Palliative care identifies and treats symptoms which may be physical, emotional, spiritual or social. Because palliative care is based on individual needs, the services offered will differ but may include:<\/span><\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 500;\"><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Relief of pain and other symptoms e.g. vomiting, shortness of breath etc.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Resources such as equipment needed to aid care at home<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Assistance for families to come together to talk about sensitive issues<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Links to other services such as home help and financial support<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Support for people to meet cultural obligations<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Support for emotional, social and spiritual concerns<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Counselling and grief support<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #000000;\">Referrals to respite care services<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; color: #000000;\">Palliative care not only provides care in the final stages of life, but will also help to live well with a terminal illness.
