First certified and trained Palliative Physician in Bangladesh. She is an expert in her field .<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Her vision is to create a palliative care service which is culturally acceptable, appropriate, sustainable and affordable for the people of Bangladesh. She believes this vision can be realized by building a strong \u201cNetwork\u201d between existing health care providers and palliative trained personnel along with community participation through awareness and training of interdisciplinary groups of physicians, nurses, social workers, volunteers etc.. Public Health and Palliative Care can create an ideal integrated community based service for people with life limiting conditions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">In September, 2010 Dr. Rumana formed Bangladesh Palliative and Supportive Care Foundation along with the support of few friends and family members. It was a stepping stone towards many activities and initiatives.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">During this journey Dr. Rumana has had several recognitions home and abroad-<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2003-2004: Masters in Public Health, Community Medicine.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2005-2006: APHN Lien Foundation Fellowship Scholarship.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2006: First Hon. She heads Sharaf Memorial Trust and Annisul Huq Foundation, of which the first supports the education of the workers&#8217; children through three schools that the trust has and the second awards scholarships to outstanding performance in journalism, special needs education, entrepreneurship, urban planning and environment.
