On October 13, 2018 Bangladesh Palliative and Supportive Care Foundation (BPSCF) celebrated the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with a workshop on Pain management and communication skills in collaboration with Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and ACI Limited.
Dr. Rumana Dowla, founder and chairperson of BPSCF (Bangladesh Palliative and Supportive Care Foundation, shared her knowledge on pain management and communication skills with the health practitioners of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. Prof. MA Khan along with his team Prof. Bishwas, Dr. Kamruzzaman, other renowned physicians and also senior nurses were present in the workshop. The program was held at Hemato-oncology department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. The sales and marketing team of ACI Limited were also present in the workshop for presenting their insights too.

Dr. Rumana Dowla also shared about the pain assessment tools and talked about their appropriate use on the patients. While talking about pain management and palliative care she mentioned, “Our individual pain varies at different times and in response to the similar stimulus. The intensity of the response to the pain stimulus cannot be understand accurately by other observers rather the severity of the pain can most accurately be defined by the person who is dealing with the pain. Their perception is reality.”
The program ended with an interactive session with the health practitioners.
